Kimerlee Curyl has dedicated her immense talents as a photographer to
the wild horses of America. This image features one of these beautiful,
proud animals. This outstanding art will benefit Return to Freedom,
American wild horse sanctuary in Lompoc, California. "Spirit" also will
be highlighted at the 2010 Spirit of the Horse event held at Return to
Freedom in September.
In 2002, Spirit, the Kiger Mustang that served as the artist's
model, was brought to Return to Freedom by Dream Works Studios.
Spirit served as the model for the animated film, "Spirit: Stallion of
the Cimarron." Today, this magnificent horse spends his days exploring
large pastures and enjoying new friends. The Return to Freedom
sanctuary was delighted to create a new home for Spirit where he can
continue to thrive and inspire visitors to preserve the heritage of
these wonderful animals. Nearly 200 wild horses and burros are provided
a safe haven. Return to Freedom is a non-profit organization dedicated
to preserving the freedom, diversity, and habitat of America's wild
horses. This sanctuary promotes education and conservation through
direct experience with the natural world. To learn more about Return to
